The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team dropped all three of its matches in Minneapolis this weekend, dropping 7-0 decisions to both Missouri and Minnesota Saturday before falling, 5-2, to North Dakota Sunday.
Jenna Felsher and Brittany Skemp each claimed singles wins against the Fighting Sioux, while the doubles tandem of Ashley Schoneman and Sammi Schoen also captured a victory.
In the contest with Minnesota, the best fight was put up by the doubles tandem of Felsher and Schoen. They dropped an 8-7 decision at #3 doubles
Against Missouri, Schoen was again the leader for the Panthers. She extended the first set of her match at #2 singles to a tiebreaker before falling to Jamie Mera, 7-6 (4), 6-0.
Against UND, Skemp was a 7-5 (4), 6-1 winner over Emma Larson at #4 singles, while Felsher claimed a 6-3, 6-1 win over Megan Sween at #6 singles. The doubles victory by Schoneman and Schoen came by an 8-3 score in the number-three slot.
"Jenna Felsher and Brittany Skemp really played well this weekend," UWM head coach Sean McInerney said. "I hope their competitive spirit is contagious and becomes the norm with our team. Our next match is against a very good Creighton team, so I am looking forward to getting back to work this week and having a good showing against them."
UWM will play just one match next weekend, hosting Creighton Sunday morning at the Paley Tennis Center.
