Panthers Wrap Regular Season on High Note

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The Milwaukee men's swim and dive team tallied seven event wins in a 144-118 dual loss to Stevens Point on Friday at the Stevens Point Aquatics Center.
 
In the seven different events that the Panthers won, seven different individuals captured first place honors.
 
Freshman Andrew Grever (10:12.15) went the distance in the 1000-yard freestyle race beating out Pointers' Will Nelson (10.15.55) by a full three seconds.
 
Panthers' Ahmed Ghallab raced off to a photo-finish first place in the 200-yard freestyle. Ghallab timed in at 1:45.67, while his competitors finished in 1:46.18 and 1:46.52.
 
Ryan Menninga and Colin Duffy took the top two spots in the 200-yard butterfly event. Menninga edged out Duffy at 1:55.66 while Duffy came in at 1:57.47.
 
Other first place finishes included Tyler Wrasman in the 200-yard backstroke and Brandon Niemiec in the 200-yard breastroke. Wrasman tallied his first collegiate event win with a time of 1:56.55. Fellow classmate Niemiec also earned his first individual collegiate win with a final time of 2:14.86.
 
UWM's Jacob Fase and Ben Cadel wrapped up the successful night placing first in the 500-yard freestyle and 200-yard IM. Fase finished in 4:51.86 – a full eight seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Also coming in a clear first place finish was Cadel timing in at 1:56.76 to Jacob Aegerter's 2:00.17 second place finish.
 
With the regular season wrapped up, the Panthers will now prepare for Horizon League Championships held at Cleveland State. The Championships will begin Wed., February 21 and run until Sat., February 24.
