MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee swimming and diving team competed against UIC in the Klotsche Natatorium on Saturday afternoon.
The Black & Gold defeated the visiting Flames 203-94, improving their overall record to 3-2 on the season.
"We highlighted this meet at the beginning," head coach
Kyle Clements said. "We knew this was the fastest team that we would face during the dual meet season, and we wanted to give them our best effort."
"Going into the meet we talked as a team on what would happen when we were pushed," added Clements. "What do we do when someone is ahead of us, pushing us, chasing us down, and throughout the meet it was apparent that those scenarios only made us better."
Sam Lorenz continues to string together exceptional performances in the pool, securing four gold medals at the meet. Lorenz competed in the 50 Freestyle (20.11), where he set a Klotsche Natatorium event record, and the 50 Backstroke (21.58). The sophomore also touched the wall first in the 200 Free Relay and the 200 Medley Relay, which made Klotsche Natatorium history as well.
Gunnar Seversen picked up right where he left off in his last outing, recording three first-place finishes and securing a silver medal as well. In the 200 Individual Medley, Seversen nabbed a new personal best with a time of 1:51.65. His other two victories came in the 500 Freestyle (4:29.68), setting a Klotsche Natatorium record, and the 1000 Freestyle (9:25.23).
Three gold medals were also secured by
