Panthers And Norse Play To 2-2 Deadlock

Team extends program record for ties

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – A pair of first-half goals got the Milwaukee men's soccer team off to a great start, but ultimately settled for a 2-2 tie against Northern Kentucky Saturday afternoon at NKU Soccer Stadium.

The Panthers (1-7-7, 0-3-4 Horizon League) got goals from Logan Farrington and Gabe Anguil to jump out to a 2-0 lead against the Norse (4-9-2, 2-5-1 Horizon League), but were unable to hold on and had to settle for yet another draw, extending the program record for ties in a single season.

A slow start both ways, Farrington got the MKE offense on the board with a goal at the 18:51 mark. With assists credited to Emil Lindgren Pedersen and Anguil, Farrington made it 1-0 with his sixth of the season.

The Panthers doubled up the advantage in the 30th minute, this time with Anguil coming through with his second of the fall. The same scoring combination was responsible, with Farrington and Lindgren Pedersen picking up assists.

Unfortunately, the team was unable to get to the locker room with the same scoreline, seeing NKU get one back in the 37th minute.

The Norse kept momentum into the second half and equalized, drawing even at 2-2 at the 46:52 mark, just minutes into the period.

The Panthers had a couple of decent looks the rest of the way and were helped along by a Norse red card in the 70th minute, but were unable to break through and earned just the point with their fifth tie in their last six games. Lindgren Pedersen had the last attempt of the day, going wide right in the 87th minute.

MKE ended the day with advantages of 11-8 in shots, 6-4 in shots on goal, as well as 52 percent of possession and five of the nine corner kicks. Lindgren Pedersen paced the offense with a game-high four shots. In net, Gijs Van Schouten finished with a pair of saves.

Up next, the team will play its final home contest of the regular season, welcoming Oakland Oct. 29. Game time is set for 1 p.m. and will also be "Senior Day" for the program.
